When is the best time to buy Christmas trees?
Gift giving can require hours spent on choosing the perfect gift. But what if you don’t have the time to do all the research, but still want your gift to be a hit? Here are 5 gift suggestions that are evergreen. Why? Because some gifts are timeless and are sure to always bring smiles.
You don’t have to pick the most expensive bottle in the store. Pick a brand most people are aware of and choose a type that you think is appropriate. There is very little that can terribly go wrong with gifting a wine unless the bottle you picked wasn't sealed well enough :-)
Plants add serenity and calm to the atmosphere. They can be put inside or outside the house. You are guaranteed to bring joy to the gift giver with plants. If you have never given plants before, give it a try next time.
Books provide you with a wide range of selection from fiction to non-fiction. You just need to have a slight idea about the personality type of the gift receiver. For practical, business minded people books on productivity would be great. For others, novels make a great gift.
From cards games to board games, the range is wide open. Games are a common family activity during holidays and other gatherings. Board games are appropriate if you have a hint about the kind of games the gift receiver likes, if not go for card games and pick the ones that are fun and can be played with multiple people.
Whether it is a house party or a bigger occasion, bouquets are used all over the world to express good wishes to the gift giver. They make a great gift no matter what the occasion so don’t hesitate to grab one for the next party you are planning to attend!
This is indeed me drinking out of the Hydro Flask!Save over $6 on the Hydro Flask bottle
A lot of the products on Best Ever Gifts I use and love myself. This is one of them.
The Hydro Flask water bottle is amazing, and I have been using it myself for the last 4-5 months.
It keeps water cold for a ridiculous 24 hours, so I have become used to having ice cold water all of the time. Seriously, I never find myself drinking water that is not cold out of this bottle, even after leaving it overnight.
Also, the bottle is room temperature to the touch and no humidity will bead up on it. It is for sure the best bottle that I have ever had!
This bottle is on sale right now at Amazon for $27.19, so this is a great time to buy.
It makes a great gift either to your loved ones or to reward yourself. Do yourself a favor and pick one up while the sale lasts.
How to Give Great Gifts - Part 2
This article is a continuation of a series, you can read Part 1 about Planning here.
The process of selecting gifts for loved ones is difficult for a lot of people. It doesn't have to be. Dr. Neel Burton, a psychiatrist, wrote a very nice article about the rules of gift giving. These are great to follow when you are selecting a gift and will help guide you to make choices that are meaningful to the recipient and something that you both enjoy. Here are 8 rules for selecting great gifts.
Giving money says "I didn't want to think too much about the gift, so this is what you are worth to me". There is no sentiment in giving cash.
Spending more money on a gift doesn't mean that the person will like it more. Often times handmade things, or a gift that involves you giving your time will be the most treasured. When I was a kid, my parents made me a mini football field out of a green towel and some crafts. It stands out as one of the best gifts of my childhood.
It is cliché but true. You should think carefully about what gift to give. Pick something that the person really wants. This is when you should pull out your list from Part 1. Try to remember things that have come up in conversation with the person or things they have had their eyes on.
Experiences tend to be preferred over and are more memorable than objects. The person will remember a concert or event a lot more than an object that they rarely use. Dr. Burton reminds, though, that some objects, like books and DVD's, can also be experiences as long as they are correctly chosen.
In today's world, many people are pressed for time. You should acknowledge this when you are selecting a gift. Don't give something they have to spend a lot of time to use (for instance a 1000-piece puzzle unless they are a puzzle enthusiast). Instead, give them something that doesn't take much time to use. Or better yet, give them something that saves them time (such as an upgraded gizmo) or can be used to fill in dead time (audio books).
If you give a gift like concert tickets or a vacation for the two of you, you are demonstrating that you want to spend more time with the person. Also, as a bonus, you get to enjoy your gift along with them.
If you see something that you know would make a perfect gift for someone on your list, but you wouldn't be giving it to them for a few months, buy it anyway. You are not likely to find something better, and by buying early, you won't have to rush around at the last second and perhaps choose something far less suitable.
This may be the most important. Gift giving should be a fun experience both for the giver and the receiver. You are giving a gift to this person because you care about them and you want to express that to them. If you become too worried about what to get them and become stressed out then it is no longer fun. Remember, they don't want you to suffer to get them something. Always keep in perspective why you are giving a gift in the first place and have fun with it.
By following these rules of gift selection, you will be able to give great gifts and will have a great experience both in the selection process and when you finally give the gift.
We will discuss gift presentation in part 3.
The blog has gotten a makeover. And after some work, we are happy to be showing it to the world. You will notice that the blog is now much more attractive. Also, you can now click on individual articles on the left navigator so you can read all your favorites from the past.
Look forward to a lot of great content that will be coming soon to the blog. We are excited about the new format and all of the new gifts and changes that we will continue to roll out.
Gifts don't have to be only things. Experiences are often times the best gift, and they are a great way for people to create lasting memories together.
A romantic trip to Italy is an amazing experience that both of you would remember for the rest of your lives, and right now the flight portion of this this trip can be purchased amazingly for $449 per person.
Emirates is offering round trips for 2 at this price for flights from New York (JFK) to Milan (MXP). Even if you aren't based in the New York area, it may be worth it to fly there first in order to get this wonderful fare.

Have a wonderful trip
We all have people in our lives that we care deeply about. With these people we want to be able to express how we feel about them during special occasions (Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays) by giving them gifts.
Choosing the perfect gift can be a struggle, and even when you have the best of intentions, sometimes life seems to get in the way. This is why it is important to have a gift strategy, and that is what we will give you in this series of blog posts. In this first one, we focus on what can be done before it is the last second, planning and even pre-buying.
The first thing that you should do is plan out the people in your life that you want to give gifts to (parents, siblings, close friends, significant other). Make a list and write it down. I prefer to make my list digital so that it is easy to update later but it is fine to do this on paper also (I like to use OneNote or EverNote). Next, go ahead and write down all of the special dates for each person where you would give them a gift (birthday, anniversary, etc). Once you have done this, you have one place that you can go to where you can see when special dates are coming up. Check this list every so often. This way you will know ahead of time when a date is coming up and you won't have to rush gifts.
Now that you have your list, the next part is picking out just the right gifts for the special people on it. Some people are notoriously hard to get gifts for, they don't tell you what they want, and they seem to have everything. With some planning though, you can also figure out something great to get for them. On your list, write down the interests and lifestyle of each of the people. This will help you when you are going to find a gift.
Another thing that you can do to understand better what someone would like or need as a gift is to spend some time with them. When they say something like "Wouldn't it be nice to have …", "Aren't those … a great idea", or "I am tired of this old …", they are giving you a hint to what could make a wonderful gift for them. Make a note of it under their name on your list. Also, if you spend some time with someone in their workshop, or house, or kitchen you might notice some things that they don't have that would make their time there even better.
Keep these ideas, and you will be more prepared when it is time to buy a gift again. Check back soon for part 2.
Disclosure: I am not affiliated with nor do I profit from any sales of gift cards. I just do this myself and think that it is a great idea.
Are you someone who likes to get things at the cheapest possible price? You always look for sales and deals and never buy anything at full price? I totally get that, and I am the same way. I want great deals on everything that I buy so that I will have more money left over to do other things with. I am especially picky with clothes. As there are so many sales with clothes, it seems almost crazy to buy them undiscounted.
There is a way though to get an even better discount on the items that you buy, and one that you can combine with any other deals that the store is offering. The trick is discounted gift cards.
There are now many websites that offer to buy peoples' unwanted gift cards and then resell them. Many gift cards you can buy from these retailers at a discount of 20% and some even at a discount of 30%. Say for instance that you love shopping at New York and Company. You know that eventually you are going to spend a good amount of money there. Today you could buy a $500 gift card for them at a price of $309. This is a savings of $191 or 38%! While this is one of the highest discounts currently available, there are many gift cards available at high discounts for clothing stores.
Also, because customers are of course worried about fraud, these reselling websites offer some sort of guarantee on the cards that you purchase from them. You should read the exact terms before purchasing.
Gift Card Granny is a great site that aggregates the offers of over 10 of the resellers so that you can find the best deals, This is where I go to find the best deals.
So, if there is a place that you frequent or are planning on making some purchases you can save some good money through these gift cards. I like to always get Starbucks (currently a 12% discount) or Fandango (currently 19% discount) as I use these services a lot.
If you are the kind of person who has been checking out Best Ever Gifts every single day so that you will know first when there are any updates, there was a period for a while in November in early December where you were probably disappointed. The two founders were in India getting engaged, and that took their attention away momentarily.
Well, Best Ever Gifts fans. The downtime is now over, and the website is back in full swing under some serious construction. As you do your daily check-ins to the website, you will now see a multitude of changes. For one, there is this new blog. Secondly, we are adding new products again and will soon add products for kids to help with buying gifts for them. There are also some projects underway to bring some new exciting features to Best Ever Gifts to make it even more useful for our users.
Also, we are at a phase where we would love to get some user feedback. What have you liked about the website? And more importantly, what problems have you had with it? What would you like that could make it better? We are all ears, and we are excited to make this the best site for you. Please leave us a comment on our Facebook page or on Twitter. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you don't like to post in public.
Thank you so much! You are the reason that we made this site, and why we are striving to make it better.
Amazon is running a special on H&R Block's tax software today. The prices have been reduced by up to 51% (which is a great deal!). These are likely the best prices that you will see during the tax season, so it is probably a good idea to go ahead and pick this up.
These prices will only be around until tonight, so if you want the deal you should purchase quickly.
Be sure to read the descriptions so that you can select the product that is right for you.
These are available both in the form of Discs and Download for PC or Mac
You can think of this deal as a gift to yourself :).
If you are thinking about changing from real trees to the artificial kind, the best time is right now (the days just after Christmas). Retailers such as Wal-Mart put deep discounts on their holiday-themed inventory that remains unsold after the holiday is over. This leads to some great bargains.
I just came from Wal-Mart where there was a 7.5-foot tree that would have cost $120 before Christmas selling for just $30! And this isn't the only bargain I saw. Now is also the best time of year to buy wrapping paper (you can get it for under a dollar a roll!), and you can also load up on candy canes for next year for 25 cents a box (just be sure to check the "Best By" date).
It is also the perfect time to pick up some new ornaments, Christmas decorations, or lights. Sure, you won't be able to use them until 11 months from now, but next year you can buy some even better Christmas gifts with all the money that you will save.
Go ahead and check out what you can find in your local major retailer. I'm sure there will be something that you will like (especially if you like candy).
Have a happy new year and best wishes for a great 2016 from Best Ever Gifts!
